About Abi
Abi is a barrister in the Northern Territory of Australia, practising in criminal law, public law, employment law and civil and regulatory matters. She appears regularly in the Local and Supreme Courts, bringing experience from both sides of the criminal justice system, including as a former Crown Prosecutor and as a Senior Solicitor at Legal Aid NT.
Abi has held senior roles advising former Commonwealth Attorney-General Mark Dryfus KC MP and Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner, and Attorney-General Selena Uibo on criminal justice policy, legislative reform, and complex social policy issues. Her work has focused on improving justice outcomes through practical, system-level reform, with particular expertise in Aboriginal justice, access to justice, and the intersection between law, policy and community impact.
As a Monash Scholar, Abi completed a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School, where she was also selected as a Frank Knox Fellow. Her studies focused on justice system design, behavioural science and adaptive leadership. She was a Teaching Assistant to Cornel William Brooks and a Research Assistant to Sandra Susan Smith.
Abi is Vice-President of the Criminal Lawyers Association of the Northern Territory and she is part of the Northern Territory Law Reform Committee. She remains committed to advancing a more effective, rehabilitative and evidence-based justice system that has the power to break cycles – changing lives for the better including victims, offenders, and the wider community.
