About Jonathan
Jonathan K. Kummerfeld is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science at the University of Sydney. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, supported by the Monash Foundation. He was a postdoc at the University of Michigan (2016 – 2021), and a visiting scholar at Harvard University (2021 – 2022).

Jonathan works on making computers understand and communicate in human language, using novel forms of machine learning and crowdsourcing. He has been on the program committee for over 50 conferences and workshops. He currently serves as the Co-CTO of the Association for Computational Linguistics’ Rolling Review system, and is a standing reviewer for the Computational Linguistics journal and the Transactions of the Association for Computational Linguistics journal. Jonathan has also advised four startups working on AI-based products, including one that was acquired in 2018.
