About Laura
Laura is a medical doctor and health policy specialist who is passionate about improving health outcomes and equity in Australia.
She completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle which she graduated from with the University Medal. With the generous support of the Chairman’s Circle Scholarship, she read for the Master of Public Policy at the University of Oxford where she graduated with Distinction.
During her time overseas she spent time with the World Health Organisation Regional Office for Europe where she examined the commercial determinants of health, particularly in crisis stricken areas, and how governments can work to ameliorate these.
After completing the Master of Public Policy she returned to Australia to take up a position as an Assistant Director of the National Health, Sustainability and Climate Unit with the Interim Centre for Disease Control in the Department of Health and Aged Care where she was part of the team that wrote and implemented Australia’s first National Health and Climate Strategy.
She is currently completing her specialisation in Clinical Pharmacology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
