About Lydia
Lydia Braunack-Mayer is a biostatistician with expertise in infectious disease research, collaborating across Europe and Australia. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and University of Basel, a Master of Science in Statistics from ETH Zürich, and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Mathematical and Computer Sciences and Arts from the University of Adelaide. As the 2015 Commonwealth Bank John Monash Scholar, she pursued her MSc at ETH Zürich, specialising in modelling infectious disease dynamics and exploring the philosophy of science. She currently provides statistical expertise to clinical trials and observational studies addressing infectious diseases in vulnerable populations – from sexually transmitted infections during pregnancy, to evaluating vaccine impact on mpox outbreaks, to optimising drug-based interventions for malaria prevention.
