About Mathilde
Mathilde is a mathematician and scientist passionate about the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in climate science. Mathilde began her career in climate research at the University of Melbourne. There, she worked as a Research Assistant to understand historic changes in regional drought, whilst completing two undergraduate courses (both with First Class Honours). Mathilde has since worked as a Climate and Data Scientist with Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology, exploring AI advancements to new and existing services and working with Pacific Island meteorological services to provide tailored climate services to communities. She completed her Honours Degree at Monash University, where she studied applied mathematics supported by the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes. She has presented research at international conferences, published award-winning research papers and volunteered time to supporting career development for colleagues and students. With the John Monash Scholarship, is currently completing her Doctor of Philosophy at Oxford University, researching new methods of improving our understating of future climate change using cloud physics and AI. She looks forward to bringing these important skills back to Australia to support innovative climate science that has a lasting impact for our communities.
