About Sam
After completing his medical (MBBS) degree from the University of Western Australia (with stints in Sierra Leone and the Kimberley), Sam undertook a Masters of Public Health at Harvard University, concentrating in Global Health and Public Health Leadership, thanks to a General Sir John Monash Scholarship. Since then he was learned, taught, and worked in paediatrics in Sydney, Darwin, Afghanistan, and Timor Leste. He recently completed a fellowship in the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health in Toronto. He is currently back in Perth, working at Perth Children’s Hospital in clinical infectious diseases. He is involved with Medecins Sans Frontieres Australia, and the Telethon Kids Institute. Sam’s professional interests lie at the intersection of clinical medicine, equity, and public health, particularly in low-resource settings. He has broad experience across clinical work, research and health governance in global health.
