About Emma
Ms Emma Garlett is the Managing Director of Garlett Group, an impact consulting firm specialising in sustainability, digital and strategy. She also serves as Council Member of Curtin University and is a Non-Executive Director for the Perth Bears NRL and Anglicare WA.
Emma possesses extensive experience across academia, law, media, mining, and consulting, with particular expertise in complex stakeholder engagement, governance and strategic development. Her professional background includes key roles in legal services and the resources sector, complemented by academic appointments as an Adjunct Professor at Federation University, a Teaching Fellow at the UWA Law School, and an Industry Fellow at the Sustainable Minerals Institute at the University of Queensland. Additionally, she has served as a Sessional Legal Academic at Curtin Law School and was a prominent weekly columnist for The West Australian.
Her previous governance contributions include serving as a Tribunal Member for the WA Football Commission and sitting on both the Commercial Law and Indigenous Legal Issues Committees for the Law Society of Western Australia. Additionally, Emma was a Member or the Taxonomy Technical Expert Group for the Australian Sustainable Finance Institute to develop Australia’s Sustainable Finance Taxonomy.
Educated in Australia and New Zealand, Ms Garlett holds a Master of Laws from the University of Auckland, alongside a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University. Her professional qualifications include a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, a Diploma of Business, and a Certificate IV in Community Development.She is an AMDRAS nationally accredited mediator and a member of AICD, where she serves on the First Nations Governance Forum.
