About Joel
Joel completed a Bachelor of Politics and International Studies (Honours), where his thesis on peace-building earned him the prize for top honours student. He has held previous roles in technology start-ups before moving to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to work on international policy, focusing on the Pacific. With his John Monash Scholarship, Joel travelled to Paris to undertake a Masters of International Security at Sciences Po, where he expanded his understanding of global risks – especially with relation to trade, technology and its impact on international capital markets. After spending some time in a political and investment advisory firm headquartered in Washington DC, Joel returned to Australia to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade before moving to his current role as Second Secretary (Economic) at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta Indonesia,.
