Dr Miranda Gronow

About Miranda

Dr Miranda Gronow is an archaeologist cultural heritage practitioner based in Melbourne. Miranda is currently an Associate at Extent Heritage, an Australian cultural heritage consultancy. Miranda primarily works on Aboriginal cultural heritage assessments in Victoria, working with Traditional Owners, Government, and proponents to ensure that tangible and intangible Aboriginal cultural heritage is adequately considered and managed during development projects. Miranda is currently a member of Extent Heritage’s Sea Country team, which focusses on underwater Aboriginal cultural heritage assessments for offshore infrastructure projects.

Miranda completed a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Classics and a Diploma of Languages in Latin at the University of Melbourne, for which she was awarded the University Medal in Arts. She then went on to complete an MPhil and DPhil in Classical Archaeology at the University of Oxford. Miranda was a member of the excavation team at Aphrodisias (Türkiye) between 2018 and 2023, and her DPhil thesis focussed on the Ottoman reuse and reception of Roman-period ruins on the site.
