About Natalie
Natalie Meiklejohn has a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Ecology (1st Class Honours) from the University of Queensland and graduated through the Advanced Study Program in Science. Her Honours project investigated the climatic tolerances of the invasive plant disease, myrtle rust, which threatens many native Australian plant species, and her research has been used by the NESP Threatened Species Recovery Hub. She has worked as an ecological research assistant and contractor, as well as a STEM educator through the social enterprise, She Maps, an organisation dedicated to increasing diversity in STEM using drones and geospatial science. Passionate about science communication and community outreach, Natalie has volunteered as an ambassador for both ReefCheck Australia and CoralWatch. In 2018, she was awarded the Inaugural Tara Hunt Fellowship with the environmental not-for-profit 1 Million Women, recognising her passion for sustainability and desire to drive change to protect the planet. With her John Monash Scholarship, Natalie completed a Master of Science in Carbon Management at the University of Edinburgh. Natalie currently works for the Scottish Government as the Woodland Carbon Code Coordinator for Scottish Forestry.
