Owen is a doctor and medical researcher, using genomic data to better diagnose, understand, and treat disease. He is currently a Snow Fellow, Faculty Member, and Program Director at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, and Professorial Registrar at Sydney Eye Hospital. Owen is also a cofounder and board director of Seonix Pty Ltd: a company developing clinical tests for genomic risk prediction. He holds doctoral degrees from the University of Oxford and Scripps Research, where he trained with Nobel Laureate Professor Bruce Beutler, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Cambridge and Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
