The scholarships honour the values and legacies of one of Australia's finest leaders, General Sir John Monash. John Monash Scholars receive ongoing leadership support via the John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy.
The Foundation’s Chairman, Ms Jillian Segal AO, said: “We are thrilled to have attracted Ross as the Foundation’s next CEO as we grow towards 300 alumni scholars. He brings exceptional leadership skills and energy, and a firm commitment to uphold the values of the John Monash community.
“We are excited for the next phase under Ross’s leadership, particularly as our distinctive John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy develops and assists scholars to reach their full potential.’’
Mr Youngman said: “It is a great honour to lead the General Sir John Monash Foundation. Study overseas was a game-changer for me, and I will be doing my utmost to ensure that the Foundation builds on the tremendous outcomes that have been achieved over the past two decades. All Australians should be so deeply proud that the nation has its very own postgraduate scholarship program that focuses on developing future leaders.”
Ms Segal praised outgoing CEO Paul Ramadge, who has held the position since 2023. “Paul has been truly outstanding. He lifted our sights, brought a more sophisticated, innovative and professional approach to the role, built a wonderful team and leaves the Foundation in a stronger and more resilient position. We are deeply grateful for the special legacy he leaves and the role-modelling of leadership he provided.”
The General Sir John Monash Foundation extends its thanks to international search firm Perrett Laver for its pro bono assistance in the placement of the new CEO.
Mr Youngman begins in the CEO role on July 14.
