The 2025 European Regional Symposium in Copenhagen
From 26–28 September, 40 John Monash Scholars and Alumni gathered in Copenhagen for the 2025 European Regional Symposium.
The impact of bringing this group together was clear: early-career Scholars gained first-hand insights from other Scholars and alumni studying and working across Europe and the UK, while established leaders had the chance to exchange knowledge and spark new collaborations.
Conversations spanned a wide range of fields — including space, historical instruments, diplomacy, environmental risk management, chemistry, cancer research, eco-tourism, health biostatistics and more.
The program balanced formal events with space for discussion. At a reception hosted by His Excellency David Vosen, Australian Ambassador to Denmark, Norway and Iceland, Scholars reflected on Danish–Australian relations and shared candid perspectives on current world events. A visit to Christiansborg Palace, home of the Danish Parliament, offered insights into Denmark’s political institutions and history.
With 40 participants in total, it was a vibrant demonstration of the impact our Scholars are making across disciplines and borders.
The event also welcomed 15 of our incoming 2025 John Monash Scholars, including two who were unable to attend the presentation ceremony in Canberra earlier this year.
We thank all John Monash Scholars and Alumni who joined us and look forward to seeing these connections drive outcomes well beyond the Symposium.
