EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy
The General Sir John Monash Foundation was established in 2001. The Foundation's purpose is to identify and nurture outstanding Scholars who are destined to be Australia's future leaders and who through their work address major challenges facing Australia and, in part, the world.
The John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy is a recent and important initiative of the General Sir John Monash Foundation aimed at curating life-long learning for John Monash Scholars, fostering cross-generational mentoring and support and bringing Scholars and sponsors together for knowledge sharing. With more than 260 Scholars (a number that grows each year), the Academy is viewed as a natural progression for the Foundation – a way of creating “Scholars for life”. At its heart is the belief, based on years of experience, that the greatest benefits that accrue for Scholars, apart from the best-practice knowledge gained overseas, are gained from collaborating and networking with other Scholars, especially when pursing solutions to major societal challenges.
The Foundation is seeking an Executive Director to shape the next phase of the strategy for the John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy. The successful candidate will, in consultation with the Chief Executive Officer of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, build the substance, structure and outputs of the John Monash Foundation Leadership Academy, taking it from its embryonic proof-of-concept phase to become a well-established part of the Australian knowledge economy. The Executive Director will understand the Australian higher education sector and will have the ability to develop partnerships with universities, other organisations and current stakeholders of the Foundation, as well as support the fundraising efforts of the Foundation through relationship management.
This is an exciting role that will appeal to a visionary leader with excellent strategic business planning and implementation skills, outstanding stakeholder management ability and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The appointee will have a passion for leadership, the ability to mentor and coach others, along with a ready-to-go network of business and government contacts.
The General Sir John Monash Foundation is working alongside one of its in-kind partners, global executive search firm Perrett Laver, to help identify the widest possible field of suitable candidates and assist in the assessment of applicants against the requirements for the role.
The deadline for applications is midnight AEDT on Monday 20th November 2023.
